Our Story

Tavishi | The name of Goddess Durga
Symbol of Courage, Strength, Divinity, Bravery

Almost every teenager has faced an instance of child abuse in their life. Having encountered it multiple times herself, Harshula Jhala was motivated to do something about the prevailing issue in Indian society. She was joined by Ayan Ray, her batchmate who was equally passionate about the cause. After reading many news articles on the atrocities committed against children and talking to people involved in the education industry, they realized the need to address and educate children and parents about these topics.

Ayan and Harshula’s participation in social impact projects during their college years served as another motivating factor. Tavishi was conceptualized in 2019 with their determination and zeal to take a step towards the prevention of child abuse. The team at Tavishi educates children with a set of holistic safety skills and increases accessibility to resources.

During one of their many projects together, Ayan and Harshula decided to take part in the Social Venture Challenge by The Resolution Project hosted at Harvard World Model United Nations in 2020. They won the Challenge, receiving seed-funding and mentorship by The Resolution Project, New York. In December 2020, Tavishi launched a pilot program with their counselors and collaborators, following the success of which, Tavishi has launched various programs like Child Abuse Prevention, Self Defense Training, Internet Safety Awareness, Gender Sensitization, and Anti-Bullying.

Tavishi Children Foundation is now a registered section 8 non-profit company in India. We have conducted numerous sessions during the pandemic, impacting the lives of over 250+ children and we reach over 10000 individuals on social media monthly with our informative posts.

We are a powerhouse made of 30+ volunteers, 6 counsellors, and 8 advisors - including 2 Resolution mentors. Tavishi aims to continue empowering the lives of children and their caregivers. We are also currently in the process of building a support line for children and parents to seek assistance from our counsellors when required. Stay tuned to our channels for updates!
